Experience
In 1988 Anne Weston and her husband Patrick moved to a remote corner of Costa Rica and built a home in an area without electricity, telephones, or road.
They established a rainforest preserve at which they hosted students and researchers. Anne also taught English.
She enjoyed observing the wildlife—monkeys, anteaters, sloths—as well as caring for her pet chickens, turkeys, and geese.
Before Costa Rica, Anne and Patrick lived in Mexico for six years. She grew up in San Diego and has also lived in Minnesota and North Dakota.
Anne began writing soon after moving to Costa Rica. She’s written a number of mystery short stories set in the rainforest which have been published in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine.
Her picture book My Brother Needs a Boa won the 2005 San Diego Picture Book Award.
My Brother Needs a Boa is set in a happy rainforest village—happy, that is, until a rat takes up residence in the local store. But the storekeeper’s sister comes up with a plan to restore happiness, and yes, it involves a boa constrictor.
Anne and her husband moved to Alabama several years ago to stay with her mother Aileen Kilgore Henderson, a well-known local author and TWIG member who passed away in 2023 at age 102. Their home is deep in the woods on Hurricane Creek near Brookwood. For more information or to contact Anne, go to her website anneweston.com
