Experience
Weems writes under his pen name, M.S.W., his initials which are less likely to be misspelled or mispronounced. Born in 1985, in Fort Campbell AL, Weems later moved to Tuscaloosa. Diagnosed with autism as a child, he spent many hours creating scenes in the usual way, while also outlining stories in drawings. Around sixth grade, he slowly began replacing the drawings with the written word. As an adult, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s in library and information sciences.
Weems developed an interest in history and has used the topic in three different ways in his stories. The first is based on historic events and the people involved. Secondly, he creates the kind of story where an event has no bearing on the plot but is included as that incident may lead to character development. The third style writes about historical events for the sake of history. The most frequent part of history Weems tends to explore involve the United States, and Western Civilization in general. Weems has written in the science fiction genre once and has become interested in fantasy works.
As a Catholic, Weems prefers to explore themes of redemption and downfall, generational conflicts and reconciliations, individualism and society, and how people choose between good and evil.
